Sound Stage Magazine
Refining a music publication’s identity with a sharper, tactile direction.
Sound Stage Magazine is an independent music publication focused on emerging artists and their stories. As Creative & Marketing Director, I evolved its existing identity into a sharper, more tactile direction across branding, social, and digital content.
Focus
Create a more cohesive and recognizable identity while building consistency across Sound Stage’s distribution platforms.
I evolved the existing identity into a cohesive creative system, establishing visual guidelines and directing its application across social, digital content, and marketing materials.

Starting Point
An existing identity provided the foundation for the visual evolution. With multiple logo and color variations in use, the brand lacked a clear visual hierarchy and cohesive system.

Evolving the Identity
Rather than replacing the existing identity, I refined its strongest elements and pushed them toward a darker, sharper direction. Inspired by Sound Stage’s "rock-and-roll" sensibility, I introduced a deeper red palette and angular graphic forms to bring more energy and distinction.
The Star
The original identity featured a star, which I refined into a more distinctive graphic element and directed into a hand-carved stamp with the team. Inspired by the idea of a rockstar, the sharper, angular form gave the existing element a stronger presence that could extend beyond the logo.

Social Media Direction
With social media serving as our primary marketing channel, I translated the brand guidelines into a visual system while developing reusable templates to maintain consistency.
